The St. Martinus College, established in 1842, was the first school of the Netherlands Antilles. In 2002 the Martinus complex was purchased from the Sisters of Roosendaal and went through a complete renovation. The St. Martinus campus is located very centrally at Scherpenhuevel in Willemstad; it is one of the island's prestigious monuments. By the end of 2002 St. Martinus University established itself as a University with a focus on Medicine and Health sciences. In January 2003 the University proudly opened its doors to the first students and thus officially began its medical program. In doing this the St. Martinus University continues a well established tradition of quality education as well as providing one of the finest educational environments.

Students complete laboratory requirements in smaller groups in adjacent facilities. hours a day. Students are strongly advised to either bring their personal laptop computer or purchase one. The purchase hereof can be arranged through the University. Basically in today's medical education, a computer is as essential to a doctor as is a stethoscope. The library is located in the main hall; open 24 x 7. The library has a wide assortment of books and internet connections are available throughout.
M.D. PROGRAM BY ST. MARTINUS UNIVERSITY
St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine offered medical program to the students which starts from Basic Sciences and the last stage of the program is clinical practice of medicine. The Basic Sciences program is of total 4 semesters of 20 weeks each. The 20 weeks semester will help the students to retain the knowledge which have been taught to them. The university provides high quality education to their students.
• PRE-MEDICAL : St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine offers 1 year pre-medical curriculum to the students who do not meet the eligibility of Grade point Average (GPA) requirements but want to show the potential to complete the program. Credits are given to the students for college level courses which they have completed in other educational institutions. Students who have successfully completed the pre-medical program will be automatically shifted to the medical program. |

• BASIC SCIENCES : In Basic Sciences, each semester is of 20 weeks. There is also mid-semester break after the mid-term exam. Basic Sciences program is of 4 semester. There are 35 hours of teaching per week in the first four semester of general medicine program. To successfully complete the Basic Sciences program, the students have to pass all the examinations with a minimum GPA of 2.0. For the students who fails in the course are given 3 weeks at the end of the semester for remediation or who want to review the subject materials. |

• CLINICAL CLERKSHIPS / ROTATION : Clinical rotation is available not only in Curacao but also in The United States of America, UK and Canada. the area of clinical rotations in the USA are: Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Michigan, Utah, Virginia and many more. |

• CLINICAL SCIENCES : Clinical rotations is of total 72 weeks in which 48 weeks are of basic required rotations and 24 weeks are of elective rotations. It provides academicals experience to the students which is the main part of the medical program and it takes place in the teaching hospitals which are accepted by the St. Martinus University. |

REQUIREMENTS FOR UNDERGRADUATE MEDICINE
PROGRAMS:
For admission in medical related courses, students must have studied the following subject with other subjects at school:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
St. Martinus University Faculty of Medicine require Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (Competitive GPA = 3.0) in above subjects for admission in MBBS in America. Student must qualify NEET (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test) Exam to practice in India.
